1. Always keep room for the big pieces
The pieces that end games are usually the 3×3 square and the 5-long bar. Playing so that there is always at least one empty 3×3 area and one fully empty row or column saves you when a bad piece arrives.
2. Don’t leave single-cell holes
A single empty cell surrounded on all sides can only be filled by a 1×1 piece. As these holes multiply, clearing lines becomes impossible. Before placing a piece, ask: “will this leave a hole behind it?”
3. Fill from the edges and corners
Pushing pieces against the edges and into the corners keeps the middle open for big pieces. Pieces dropped randomly in the middle split the board into small, useless islands.
4. Look at all your pieces
Order matters. Place the hardest piece first; easy pieces fit anywhere. If a move that clears a line also makes room for the others, play it first.
5. Clear several lines at once
Clearing two or three rows or columns in one move scores far more than clearing them one at a time. Leaving a few lines almost full and finishing them with the same piece is the fastest way to multiply your score.
6. Don’t break the combo chain
Consecutive clears count as a combo. To keep the chain going, always have an area ready where you can clear at least one line each turn.
7. Time Fever mode well
In Blokfest, consecutive clears fill the Fever bar; once it ignites your next moves score double points. Leaving a few lines almost full just before Fever kicks in lets you make big clears while points are doubled.
8. Practise with the Daily Puzzle and Zen
In the Daily Puzzle everyone plays the same pieces on the same day, which is ideal for trying different strategies on the same board and comparing with friends. In Zen mode the game never ends; the board makes room when you get stuck, so you can try new tactics without pressure. When you feel ready, take your score to the weekly tournament.
